| I saw the real Vietnam here in Hoi An. Real Vietnamese who live along the rivers come to Hoi An to buy goods and supplies or to sell them. The buildings in Hoi An are old with many ancient sites and it was a joy to walk around and see them. People were friendly and I was able to easily hire English speaking guides to help me to gather information to make this website. I do however have one complaint. Hoi An is a tourist town and because the tourist area is concentrated to a few streets there are a large handful of loud, rude and persistent vendors, from post card sellers to people (who get a commission) to bring you to a clothes shop. They will try your patience so bring a little extra with you but do not miss this great town because of them. Viet Nam desperately needs a Tourist Police force and tourism will double once they have one. | |
